Have a Happier, Healthier Home With Indoor House Plants

Staying healthy is something that is on most people’s minds at some point in his or her life.  Besides the obvious ways such as eating properly and getting enough sleep and exercise, what else is there?  Indoor house plants are wonderful natural air purifiers.  This isn’t the only benefit they offer.  Indoor house plants can be a great boost in decorating your home.  Additionally, live plants offer great feng shui when properly placed.  Let’s look at each of these benefits a bit closer.

Many homes, especially older ones have hidden toxins in the air.  Formaldehyde, Benzene and Trichloroethylene are three of the more common substances that can hid in your carpeting or in the products you bring into your home.  Indoor house plants such as the peace lily and spider plant, among others, help filter these substances out of the air.  This creates a healthier environment for all.

As a decoration helper, indoor house plants are priceless.  The colors are virtually unlimited and there is one to fit any room color scheme.  A large, potted plant can accent a corner, liven up a shadowy area and bring a sense of the outdoors into any room.  Indoor house plants run the size scale from small to miniature trees.  Imagine a large pot with a citrus tree in your corner; not only will it liven up the room, but will provide a natural air freshener once it starts to bloom.  If space is limited, you may opt for a hanging indoor house plant such as ivy or strawberries.

Indoor house plants also work well with feng shui.  Live plants represent chi, or the life energy and healthy plants are said to encourage positive energy flow throughout any room in which they are placed.  A complete explanation of feng shui is beyond the scope of this article, but it is worth taking time to look into.  The main idea with feng shui and indoor house plants is to give your plant a purpose.  Decide what area of your life you would like to see grow and utilize indoor house plants in that area of your home.

In addition to the above uses for indoor house plants, they are also known to cheer up both a room and the people in it.  They provide a peaceful, calming presence in the midst of \hectic lifestyles, provide a way for a person to feel needed and can teach responsibility to kids.  Indoor house plants can also be fruits or vegetables that help supplement a person’s diet and lower food bills.  You can’t go wrong by having one, or more, indoor house plants.
