Great Housewarming Gifts That Are Remembered

Very few things compare to the thrill of moving into your own home.  Housewarming parties are often given by the person or couple and guests so often are stumped as to what gifts are appropriate.  Great housewarming gifts can be just about anything imaginable if it is something the new homeowner wants or needs.  There are certain gifts, however, that are a hit with the receiver almost every time.  Let’s explore some of these gifts.

Among great housewarming gifts are live plants.  Not only does a home appear more cheerful and inviting with live plants about, but also tradition says that giving a new homeowner a fresh plant brings good luck to the recipient.  A plant lasts longer than cut flowers and isn’t as difficult to care for as a pet.  In fact, pets are not great housewarming gifts unless you know for sure the recipient wants one.

Anything personalized with the recipient’s name and the date is among the great housewarming gifts.  Frames in silver or wood will match nearly every décor.  Silver candlesticks are elegant, especially when engraved.  These things can, and often do, become heirlooms that are passed down for generations.

If you are looking for great housewarming gifts that are a bit different, try giving something that makes the recipient’s life easier.  Prepare and freeze several days’ worth of meals.  You can use new cookware and include that as part of your gift.  Gift cards for a restaurant or health club will be extremely well received.

Great housewarming gifts do not have to always be for indoors.  If the new house has a yard, a statue or bench will be greatly appreciated.  A personalized signpost with the homeowner’s name will add a special touch to the entrance of a driveway.  Other great housewarming gifts to consider for the outside area are personalized doormats or other decorations that add a personal touch to the yard.

Gift baskets make great housewarming gifts.  These can run from costing nearly nothing to expensive, depending on what contents you include.  Find out what interests are enjoyed by the homeowner and create a basket around that interest; for example, if the person enjoys gardening you can include seed packets, gardening gloves and small gardening tools.  If, however, you are unsure of interests, consider making a basket of needed things that anyone can use, such as kitchen towels and utensils or bath soaps and hand towels.

Whatever you choose, great housewarming gifts are those the recipient will remember and cherish for years to come.
